The Good Cause Blog is a website and newsletter dedicated to celebrating and inspiring social good in northeast Ohio. We want to change the way people see the our community and each other. Through the power of storytelling, we convey the human side of an issue and then provide simple suggestions for how you can get involved.
In December 2015, a late-night leap of faith inspired Pam Turos, a freelance writer and former social worker, to submit an idea to the Cleveland Leadership Center’s Accelerate: Citizen’s Make Change pitch competition. She wanted to create a place online where Clevelanders could find out about all of the inspiring people and organizations who are doing amazing work in our community. As one of five finalists, she was awarded a $2000 Economic Development start-up grant and launched The Good Cause Blog in June of 2016.
At the Good Cause Blog, we believe that shared stories and honest conversations have the power to change lives, and our mission is to use the power of storytelling to amplify social good in Northeast Ohio.
Check out the video below of Pam’s winning pitch-presentation, where she describes the first time she used social media and storytelling to raise funds for a cause that was important to her, The Homeless Stand Down sponsored by HandsOn Northeast Ohio.
