If you’ve ever found yourself asking “What the heck is the Good Cause Blog?” or “What is Good Cause Creative?” you’re not alone. In fact, you would be among some pretty impressive company, since even my mother recently admitted she didn’t completely understand the difference.
If there is one golden rule that applies to both writing and marketing (at least for me) it would be this: Pay attention to your audience. And we’ve heard those two questions from you more than a few times over the last year! In that same time period – the Good Cause Blog has grown up. It’s no longer just the little project I started because I wanted more people to know about all the good things happening in the Cleveland non-profit world.
We are a growing community of writers and change makers, and our name needs to give full credit to the big work we are are trying to do. We want to be known as the place to go for a fresh, honest, personal perspective on the social issues that divide Cleveland. And we can’t let those stories get clouded because our audience is unclear about who and what we are! So the solution is simple, and the objective is clear. We’re on a mission to write stories that matter, and we hope you’ll continue to share those stories with other people. Write. Inspire. Share.
Introducing … WISH Cleveland.
Same stories. Same mission – to change the way people see our community and each other through the power of shared stories. WISH Cleveland will help readers connect with the human side of an issue and highlight the similarities, strengths and experiences of marginalized groups. We want to start conversations and inspire people to support local organizations that don’t have a big marketing department to tell their stories.
Good Cause Creative is still my day job. It’s a collaborative group of freelance professionals, who love doing work that matters. It’s also the company that publishes the site formerly known as the Good Cause Blog. A portion of all our income will continue to be used to support the cost of running WISH Cleveland, and the organizations that hire us for social media, communications and web development are our partners in building the WISH community.
So, thank you! Thank you for reading, thank you for sharing. Thank you for being someone who inspires us to keep telling stories. We have lots of big plans that you’ll continue to notice in the weeks ahead, celebrating the partnerships that sustain us and offering more ways for you to get involved.
